A note from the apiary
Pure, local honey. Nothing more.
Our honey is raw and unfiltered. Coarse straining keeps the pollen, and leaving it unheated preserves its natural character.
Chad uses natural beekeeping methods and cares for the bees that make it possible. From a spoonful at breakfast to a jar shared with friends, enjoy a little of what our Kansas bees make.

The people behind the goods
A family business. A community of makers.
Chad and Megan Gilliland started Next to Nature in 2016, with beekeeping at the heart of their family business. Megan makes jam, jelly, and pickles and looks after the marketing and the business behind the scenes. Their son Garrett learned to keep bees with Chad as a young child.
In 2025, the family opened a downtown Leavenworth storefront. Today, it brings together more than 40 small businesses and makers. We buy ingredients from local farmers and make our products in our certified commercial kitchen. Come watch products being made and get to know the people behind your food.
“Bringing our farms to your table.” Supporting small businesses and local farmers is at the heart of what we do.

Kind words from our customers
I received Next to Nature Farm Honey in a raffle drawing at the Annual Eugene Graves Memorial Scholarship Ball. This is the best tasting honey I have ever had. I love the flavor it add to my black coffee. No cramer needed.I had to order online for more. I wish I could find it in Salina, Kansas.

Best tasting honey, and he even hand-delivered when the mail wasn’t going out on time during the snow

The pickles were very good and very, very close to what my grandma used to make back from when I remember her lime pickles, not quite the same but close. Good enough that I have ordered another jar. Would recommend them for anyone looking for lime pickles.
